Strategic directions for research at UTS
The University of Technology, Sydney has recently undertaken a review of its strategic directions. In Setting the Pace: Strategic Directions for the next Decade, the University has defined its mission, guiding principles and vision for the next ten years. The title "Setting the Pace" emphasises the University's reputation for progressiveness and its aspiration to take a leading role in practice-based education and collaborative research.
Three key objectives relating directly to research have been developed after a careful analysis of the University's overall current performance relative to the ten year vision identified in Setting the Pace. The Plans set a focus and priorities for innovation and quality enhancement for the period 2005-2008 and beyond.
UTS is embarking on a vigorous and highly targeted plan to expand and strengthen its research program aimed at meeting the clearly defined objectives that follow:
- Generate research outcomes that benefit society, particularly through research strengths that have impact nationally and internationally.
- Build researcher capacity, through both staff and research students, and strengthen linkages to the national and international impact of UTS research.
- Develop a dynamic research environment, including the provision of strategic research infrastructure.
Strategies and key performance indicators have been developed for each objective.
