The Law Research Centre (LRC) seeks students interested in addressing the following focus areas:

  • capacity building in corporate, commercial and intellectual property research and application

  • health, family and community law reform
  • translating academic research into improved access, public policy and law reform.

Research Program (Seminars)

Open Knowledges

The law focus endeavours to make legal information as widely and freely available as possible, and spread our domestic success throughout the Asia-Pacific region. The policy objective seeks to change the knowledge practices of government and courts, industry and citizens. The technical focus works on the development of innovative standards of best practice that assist the free flow of information and especially transfers knowledge and technology to disadvantaged communities and less developed countries.

Capacity building in corporate, commercial and intellectual property research and application

The research in this unit provides high level advice to government, policy makers and aid agencies to promote international development of Australia’s legal and related services and conversely the development of the rule of law, corporate governance, social responsibility, an understanding of rights and policy in the Asia-Pacific region.

International law: human rights

This research advances principles of international law, human rights and democracy.

Law reform: health, family and community

Building stronger and healthier communities is a national research priority. This research advances law reform agendas that contribute to a fairer, more equitable outcome and accessible justice for all Australians.
