Future research students

Launch your research career with UTS

There are numerous opportunities for postgraduate research at UTS, focused on our research strengths.

With so many internationally renowned researchers on staff, we're able to attract high-calibre research students from outside the university - and indeed outside Australia - and to retain the most promising students from our undergraduate programs.

Before you apply

We like to make sure that you find the right supervisor, someone you will enjoy working with and who can give the right guidance and support during your research.

We also need to ensure that the resources you will need to perform your research are in place before you start. It's best to discuss all of these things with your potential supervisor before you submit your application.

Finding a supervisor

You can find out about our researchers searching UTS Experts, and can contact them directly about your proposal.

If you're not sure who to approach, or you would like advice on who might be most appropriate, contact the Responsible Academic Officer (RAO) in the area of your study. The RAO can suggest the names of potential supervisors.

  • Currently studying at UTS

If you're interested in continuing at UTS as a research student, you're likely to already know who might be the most appropriate staff member to supervise you. Discussing your research proposal with them is your first step, and will help you proceed.
